Are climate activists too extreme?

Warning: 99% of this is me getting annoyed at nine-year-olds.

A few weeks ago, while doing a homework project, I stumbled across a few irritating comments on Newsround (a kid's news channel made by the BBC). Here's one of them:

"Ok, respect to everyone but I'm really getting tired of Greta Thunberg. She's way too extreme & her whines, complains & accusations are really annoying. However, I totally believe that we're doing damage to our planet and we need to put it right, & I try to be as green as I can be. But I just hate extremity. Peace! ♡"

Okay. I get that a lot of these people are uneducated nine-year-olds, but considering the fact that we're all gonna die because of this, and relatively soon, I'm pretty sure Greta's "whines and complaints" are because she cares about, you know, the human race, and so username that I'm not saying because you're a kid, that means she cares about you. Also, she isn't extreme. I've told this to so many people, but, even the Green Party could be doing more. If it's a life-or-death situation, or a our-lives-will-change-and-it's-bad situation, then, honestly, you can never be too extreme. Also, considering the whole we'll go extinct soon thing, I don't think ending that comment with "Peace! ♡" was the best choice.

What is it with ending these with "Peace"??!! Quite a few typos (including the name of the person you're talking about) and capital letters for names exist for a reason, okay? The whole doesn't say or do anything? Well, she is seventeen, and I'm sure she's doing more than you. Government leaders are in their sixties an aren't doing anything. Why is there pressure on a teenager to change the world, especially when she's already so inspirational? Anyway, she took a boat across the Atlantic Ocean. She's vegan. When was the last time you did either of those things, huh?

Not everyone agrees with Extinction Rebellion's "drastic" approach. But as I'm sure you know (from reading the previous two paragraphs), we're not in a great place climate-wise and governments aren't exactly being great about dealing with it. Yes, Brexit sucks, but our lives are at stake right now. So, no. They're not drastic, and their beliefs aren't crazy.
